WELCOME TO THE COURT’S TEMPORARY INFORMATION CENTER Downtown Los Angeles Civic Center Courthouses and Court Facilities Closed Friday, Nov. 1, As a Result of Street Closures Caused by Los Angeles Dodgers’ World Series Victory Parade and in Anticipation of Significant Crowds As a result of street closures, significant crowds and traffic congestion anticipated in the Downtown Los Angeles Civic area resulting from the Los Angeles Dodgers’ victory parade, the following Los Angeles County courthouses and facilities will be closed Friday, Nov. 1:
Because of the street closures surrounding these courthouses and the Hall of Records beginning at 4 a.m., it will not be possible for anyone to get to or access these buildings. Regular court operations at these locations will resume on Monday, Nov. 4. Court Proceedings All matters scheduled for Friday, Nov. 1 in the impacted courthouses listed above will be continued or rescheduled, with parties receiving notice from the Court or counsel regarding new dates. Time-sensitive criminal cases will be transferred to the Central Arraignment Courthouse or the East Los Angeles Courthouse. The Court will provide counsel with notice. Restraining Orders Individuals seeking restraining orders may visit any courthouse that hears Family Law matters not impacted by the closure to file a restraining order. Individuals with restraining order hearings on Friday, Nov. 1, will be mailed continuances (Form 116), extending temporary restraining orders, with new hearing dates. Self-Help Centers Those seeking in-person self-help assistance are encouraged to visit any of the Court’s Self-Help Centers not impacted by the closure. A complete list of Self-Help Center locations and hours can be found here. Filing Electronic filing services will remain available at www.lacourt.org. Parties with statutory filing deadlines that fall on Nov. 1 who are authorized to file pleadings and documents at a filing window rather than electronically file may file in person at any other courthouse location not impacted by the closure. Jury Service All criminal grand jurors that are scheduled to report to the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center (CJC) on Friday, Nov. 1 do not need to report for service on this date. Please report for service in Department 123 at CJC on Monday, Nov. 4 at 9 a.m. Regular jury operations in the Downtown Civic Center Area will resume on Monday, Nov. 4. |
